Consider how you can use the PLN interactions of this course to further your digital identity post-term. What does it mean to have a digital identity in your industry of choice and can your current PLN be used to help professional development post-course? Additionally, as you progress through the steps of your career, can your PLN be relied on to open professional opportunities?
As PLN is “becoming increasingly central to many people’s lives, making it possible to be connected in any place at any time” (Oliveira N.R., Morgado L. 2014), the inclusiveness and diversity of PLNs provide me advanced opportunity to further my digital identity post-term. PLNs offer me world-wide range and various ways to learn knowledge and progress with the trends of the world by connecting with different people all over the world. I could leave my footprints in understanding any cultures, languages, and regions; also I could gain more views by listening and accepting others’ opinions, stories, societies, information, or experiences. I could obtain thoughts by hearing world-wide influencer’s speeches, and I could express my own thoughts with same-minded population in anytime or anywhere. All these benefits which could bring progress and advancement to my views and digital identity are brought by the PLNs. My industry of choice would focus on the healthcare of Canada, digital healthcare services are the essential problem of healthcare system in Canada. Even though my current PLN cannot really provides help for the healthcare system of Canada, but I could develop my own professional area by using my current PLN. I could develop my professional area by researching verified healthcare websites such as American cancer society to learn more about Canadians’ health problems. I could participate in any online reliable healthcare volunteer works to increase my experiences to be a health informatician in the future. Or I could talk and ask questions to the experts in the healthcare sector to gain more new knowledge. Therefore, rely on open professional opportunities is also important because expert health professionals always bring me new knowledge and information by using their experiences and analyzing the trends of healthcare sector at present.
